Barna’s dad and sister introduced him to rock. There was plenty of Lord playing at home, and his sister started taking him to gigs early on. Those concerts also brought him into contact with local musicians. He later moved towards heavier metal and the guitarists who still influence his playing. Synyster Gates is a particular favourite.
He does not have one favourite song: what he listens to depends on his mood. Avenged Sevenfold’s Buried Alive, In Flames’ Bullet Ride and Könnyebb út by Junkies are regular choices. When he wrote his introduction, he was listening to a lot of Mudfield. A less obvious favourite is Shakira, whose work he rates highly.
Alongside guitar and backing vocals, Barna takes care of plenty of things behind the scenes. The others call him the “team captain”. His own description is more practical: get things sorted so that rehearsals and gigs can be about the music.
Before a show, he takes the ring off his left hand, checks his tuning and quietly plays through a solo or two. Getting the band back together means being able to continue what they started, with a little more experience this time.
